The Day after Love

I'm at work right now. Who works on Presidents Day? Nobody apparently because traffic getting to work was non existent. The mail doesn't come today, school play grounds are empty, everyone is where I want to be, HOME!

But I refuse to be bitter because I've got Fashion Week.
I'm waiting patiently to see what Giles Deacon & Miu Miu will have to show!

I hope Valentines Day brought you lots of hugs & kisses. Mine brought me a afternoon of fabric shopping with classmates in the garment district. My evening was filled with flowers, chocolate, candles, a beautiful dinner and sonic blizzard from Sonic burger. All compliments of my two live in lovers C&B.

I was also given the book below. Nathanael West's, Miss Lonely Hearts and The Locust.
Keep you posted on my new read.

KAO-POW!

Ah to be a young designer. Jen Kao showed her ultra sexy spider web spun knits today. The collection showed the evolution of her witchy cool-girl look. Her furturistic lines and side seams are very impressive but I must admit her evening wear fell short, in my opinion.

ORGANIC by John Patrick

This collection takes me back to decades I've only dreamed of living in. It takes me to a room that's lit by oil drip light fixtures and velvety eyed oil painted nudes frame the walls of some golden flamboyant wall paper.
There's definitely some Joni Mitchell-slash-Sloane Ranger thing going on here and guess what I ADORE IT!
As always, everything was produced using sustainable methods. The fine level of craftsmanship evident in the clothes makes you wonder why more designers don't follow suit.

The Show must go on!

Not only did todays blizzard bring sheets of snow it also brought traggic news from across the Atlantic. As many have said before us, "The show must go on," and it did so.
It kicked off today with Gwen Stefani showing at the Milk Studios. Everything in this collection screamed G.W.E.N to me! If the collection wasn't exactly concise, the variety and uniqueness of many of the pieces will get them noticed on the sales floor. And, no, you don't have to be a ska punk to pull any of this off.

Alexander the Great

I'm incredibly sad right now. Frustrated and ready to throw every dish I own against a wall in order to release all the sadness and pain I feel.

I just learned Alexander McQueen committed suicide this morning. Details are still scarce but it is known that his mother passed away a week ago and he had been suffering from depression since then.

What can I say? That hasn't already been said. This is tragic! It's awful! The fashion world is poorer without him.

I dedicate my blog, my energy, my entire day to pay homage to you Alexander McQueen because without you who would I be?
May you rest in peace wherever you are.
