Skulls and Pearls

Damn this would look good on my hand. Instead I've been donning my classic flower in clear plastic ring. Ah to be unemployed, broke and young. This McQueen accessory tops my in your dreams list. On the bright side it's only a matter of time until Forever 21 knocks it off, right? Check out the laundry list of designer threads on Netporter.com and don't stop being a dreamer. Look below and check out my model looking hands. oooh ah. Doesn't quite fit that finger, though.

Collection One Come To Life

I love how this all came together - Some pot, some friends, some fashions and a mural. Thank you to my buddies Carlinie & M.M. for modeling my collection! You two are dolls and I'll never forget this.

Totally Tubular

Contrary to what some of friends and family may think I LOVE summer! What I don't like about summer is sand, cold beach water, sand up my nose and my butt, seaweed, tourist, and being too tan. That may be a laundry list of dislikes but being a native Californian I get picky and shit gets tricky yo...what?
What I do like about this summer is Cynthia Rowley for Roxy! Recently I was daydreaming through the floor at Barneys CO-OP playing the I want this and that game when I saw CR for Roxy. I really have to say this stuff is brilliant! Never have I seen wetsuit material used for something other than a wetsuit! Sure wetsuit fabric is just a heavier version of Lycra, actually its Neoprene. But Cynthia uses it in a skirt, a dress, some rad ass pants, and the cutest most girly wetsuit I've ever seen! I just love it! it makes me want to go watch Point Break...actually it makes me want to go to the beach. See you there Dudes!

Rock the Casbah

Lately I've had this weird obsession with new music. Not that i don't frequently seek out good new music but since summer is right around the corner i feel like now is the time to put together my 2010 summer play list. SO pitchfork.com has become my new favorite site and they're always streaming rad music. Today I bought Joanna Newsoms, Have one on Me.

If you're local check out some of these shows @ The Casbah!

Cheers!

Spring Blurp...Burp

P-A-R-T-Y on Spring break is here.
I feel it in every step I take and in every sip of air I inhale through my lungs. If Spring is about new beginnings and transformation then I've never felt a Spring more vibrant and moving than this one.
With my collections class wrapped up and only ten weeks of school left before I become a certified fashion designer, I can feel my soul itching for an industry job. And so the hunt and the countdown continues in to Summer.

To my fellow friends, classmates and fashionistas right click and paste. Read on:

The Day after Love

I'm at work right now. Who works on Presidents Day? Nobody apparently because traffic getting to work was non existent. The mail doesn't come today, school play grounds are empty, everyone is where I want to be, HOME!

But I refuse to be bitter because I've got Fashion Week.
I'm waiting patiently to see what Giles Deacon & Miu Miu will have to show!

I hope Valentines Day brought you lots of hugs & kisses. Mine brought me a afternoon of fabric shopping with classmates in the garment district. My evening was filled with flowers, chocolate, candles, a beautiful dinner and sonic blizzard from Sonic burger. All compliments of my two live in lovers C&B.

I was also given the book below. Nathanael West's, Miss Lonely Hearts and The Locust.
Keep you posted on my new read.

KAO-POW!

Ah to be a young designer. Jen Kao showed her ultra sexy spider web spun knits today. The collection showed the evolution of her witchy cool-girl look. Her furturistic lines and side seams are very impressive but I must admit her evening wear fell short, in my opinion.

ORGANIC by John Patrick

This collection takes me back to decades I've only dreamed of living in. It takes me to a room that's lit by oil drip light fixtures and velvety eyed oil painted nudes frame the walls of some golden flamboyant wall paper.
There's definitely some Joni Mitchell-slash-Sloane Ranger thing going on here and guess what I ADORE IT!
As always, everything was produced using sustainable methods. The fine level of craftsmanship evident in the clothes makes you wonder why more designers don't follow suit.

The Show must go on!

Not only did todays blizzard bring sheets of snow it also brought traggic news from across the Atlantic. As many have said before us, "The show must go on," and it did so.
It kicked off today with Gwen Stefani showing at the Milk Studios. Everything in this collection screamed G.W.E.N to me! If the collection wasn't exactly concise, the variety and uniqueness of many of the pieces will get them noticed on the sales floor. And, no, you don't have to be a ska punk to pull any of this off.

Alexander the Great

I'm incredibly sad right now. Frustrated and ready to throw every dish I own against a wall in order to release all the sadness and pain I feel.

I just learned Alexander McQueen committed suicide this morning. Details are still scarce but it is known that his mother passed away a week ago and he had been suffering from depression since then.

What can I say? That hasn't already been said. This is tragic! It's awful! The fashion world is poorer without him.

I dedicate my blog, my energy, my entire day to pay homage to you Alexander McQueen because without you who would I be?
May you rest in peace wherever you are.

Gaga Ra Ra Ra

I'm loving the big bird yellow hair Lady Gaga has going on in the picture taken on New Years Eve.
